International Dairy Group, CSRD Readiness

Challenge:

An international dairy manufacturer with several operating companies and production sites across multiple countries needed to prepare for CSRD reporting. While the group had already taken important steps in sustainability reporting, the existing approach had to be expanded from selected entities to group level. Key challenges included defining the reporting boundaries, aligning different sites and companies, preparing a double materiality assessment, improving ESG data structures, and creating a governance model that could support future reporting obligations.

Solution:

Afri-Trade supported the sustainability and reporting preparation process by helping structure the project scope, analyse the organisational context, and translate regulatory requirements into practical work packages. The work focused on system and context analysis, stakeholder mapping, double materiality preparation, greenhouse-gas accounting requirements, ESG data gaps, and the development of a roadmap towards CSRD and ESRS readiness. Particular attention was given to making the process manageable for a complex food manufacturing group with different business units, production realities, and internal reporting capabilities.

Result:

The client received a structured pathway towards CSRD and ESRS compliance, including a clearer understanding of reporting boundaries, relevant sustainability topics, data requirements, internal responsibilities, and implementation priorities. The project created the basis for a group-wide sustainability process, improved ESG data management, and a phased roadmap towards double materiality, sustainability strategy, decarbonisation planning, and future ESRS-aligned reporting.
